Semester Art Review

My sophomore semester is coming to a close and while it’s been a ride, I’m sorry to say that I haven’t done as much with my artwork as I would have liked. My hobby life is kind of dead, especially around finals. There’s a statistic out there that says only 1 in every 5 college student report having hobbies that they indulge in during the school year and I think that really makes sense. Regardless, enjoy my showcase of a few art pieces that I created for no other purpose than to enjoy creating art.

First, let’s start with my hand drawn pieces:

My favorites of this batch were probably my Reepicheep sketch, my kingly sparrow sketch, and my little necromancer sketch. I wasn’t a fan of how my kitten-bee turned out but I really enjoyed the concept.

Next, I’d like to showcase my 3d art edits and pieces:

A few of these were actually for a series. The portraits of regal and vintage looking women were a concept I had floating around in my head for awhile. It was a lot of fun making them into a sort of disney-esque style. But, admittedly, most were random portraits I created for the fun of it. No theme. Just fun.

Aaaand that’s all for now! Thanks for visiting!

  1. Ok, so I’m just getting around to commenting on this, but still – I don’t care how you think the kitten-bee thingamabob turned out, it’s freakin adorable! I weep at the excellent perspective on the Reepicheep sketch, especially his sword. Things like that are my Achilles heel.

    1. Haha you’re too kind! I think it was one of those pieces where I had such a specific idea in my head that I was basically dooming myself to be unhappy with the result UNLESS it was exactly like what I had in my head.
And I totally understand about the Reepicheep sketch. Things in that sort of magical/cute/animal style that is reminiscent of Beatrix Potter is my favorite!

      1. Ah, yes, I know those well. My sketchbooks and trash cans are full of them.
That’s what that reminds me of! Beatrix Potter! You’ve brought back childhood memories of struggling to copy illustrations out of her storybooks. I failed, of course. 😂

      2. I did that sort of thing too as a kid. I loved to place a paper over my favorite fairy illustrations and trace them thinking that, I, of course, was an amazing artist. Unfortunately they never did come out right, so I relate to you on that. 😂

      3. I never tried fairies, because they were too close to humans and I couldn’t draw those until about four years ago. It didn’t matter much, though. That tracing thing didn’t ever work as well as I thought it would.
