How to low key to feel like a time lord

How to low key to feel like a time lord

Because self care!

Wear long coats with big pockets.

Experiment with scarves.

Remember that everyone matters.

Be fascinated by strangers.

I’d recommend keeping a journal

Delve into some world history. Be a researcher.

Doodle

Explore everything and everywhere.

Be passionate.

Don’t care if people are judging.

Read.

Chart the stars.

Consume knowledge at the same rate in you seek it. (Which should be like crazy. Stay curios, babe).

Tinker with things. Find a problem and then find a solution. Keep those mental gears ever turning.

Don’t blink. 😉 (but a wink is okay)

Wear Converse if you’re feelin it.

Remember the most interesting people are a little mad.

Have you considered a bow tie?

Astronomy will always be cool.

And chemistry.

And biology.

And pretty much any science because science is the appreciation of existing.

Just feed that ever curios mind of yours.

Space theories. Educate yourself.

Remember change is unavoidable and a part of life and should be embraced. but don’t lose yourself. Please don’t lose yourself. No matter how many seasons of “change” you go through, no matter how many regenerations you become, remember what makes you, you.

You have all of time and space. Where do you want to start?

Rating NASA’s Robots

Hi everyone! And welcome to my blog post where I rate all of NASA’s cute lil mechanical astronauts on their missions, hardwork, and how adorable they are. Are you ready?

  1. Robonaut

This guy was designed to be about as humanoid as scientists dared to make a robot in the 1970s. Robonaut was designed to replace humans in space exploration. While its very hard to make a human-like robot and duplicate our emotions and the way our minds work, scientists manage to give this guy fourteen degrees of freedom and touch sensors at the tips of its fingers.

According to the very reliable source of Wikipedia, “There are currently two working robonauts, R1 and R2. R1 and R2 are both highly capable robots and are able to handle a wide range of tools and tasks. Robonaut 2 or R2 was flown to the space station as part of STS-133 mission and was the first humanoid robot in space.”

In the future, legs will hopefully be added.

So, now onto the rating.

While I give this robot my upmost respect, I cannot deny he looks a bit creepy. But given the importance of his work, I think I will give him a solid 6/10

2. Spidernaut

Spidernaut! | This robot is amazing. Does whatever a spidern… | Flickr

I’m not going to lie, Spidernaut scares the living crud out of me. A mechanical spide that is not only strong but HUGE. Sign me up, you do not. But, I will say, this design is really cool. The problem scientists have been having with our upcoming generation of space science platforms and vehicles are too large and too fragile to launch and deploy as self-contained payloads. They are breakable, present us challenges whenever we want to send them somewhere.

Spidernaut is supposed to remedy this.. The multipoint stance of an arachnid’s eight legs, with as many as 7 down during a step, allows simply-supported footholds that spread climbing loads more evenly across a space structure and impart no torques.

However, as of right now, it is simply a concept, theory, and an unlaunched model.

5/10

3. SPHERES

What are those large D&D looking dice things you might ask? Well, you probably won’t ask as this is a list all about robots and you can use deductive reasoning, BUT let me just pretend for a moment that you actually DID ask.

These are called SPHERES. The Synchronized Position Hold Engage and Reorient Experimental Satellite (SPHERES). They are a series of miniaturized satellites.

Too, quote and article, their exact purpose is this:

” to be used as a low-risk, extensible test bed for the development of metrology, formation flight, rendezvous, docking and autonomy algorithms that are critical for future space missions that use distributed spacecraft architecture, such as Terrestrial Planet Finder and Orbital Express.”

Each SPHERES satellite is an 18-sided polyhedron, with a mass of about 4.1 kg and a diameter of about 21 cm. So they’re small, compact, and super useful. In short, they are used for a wide diversity of experiments, basically functioning as a space lab partner.

These satellites get all my love.

8/10

4. Curiosity Rover

Curiosity Self-Portrait at 'Big Sky' Drilling Site.jpg

How could we even make such a list as this and not include our loyal Curiosity.

Originally Rover was sent to Mars to a explore a crater. A simple mission, right? But in December 2012, Curiosity‘s two-year mission was extended indefinitely. He remains operational and to this day, collecting samples for scientists to analyze.

8/10

5. Oppy Rover

NASA Mars Rover.jpg

You probably already know the extensive tale or Opportunity Rover, effectionately nick named Oppy for short. Part of NASA’s Mar’s exploration program, Oppy landed on the Planet on January 25, 2004, three weeks after its twin Spirit (MER-A) touched down on the other side of the planet. Rover spent its days on the planet doing various tasks for scientists, being powered by its solar panels and hibernating during dust storms. This careful operation allowed Opportunity to exceed its operating plan by 14 years, 46 days (in Earth time), 55 times its designed lifespan.  However, Oppy did not reboot after a dust storm in 2018, suggesting to scientists that it had some sort of failure, or that, perhaps, the machines solar panels got too covered by dust to operate. Scientists hope to go back soon and reactive this little machine. But until this, this little machine occupies a little space in our hearts.

“More than 835 recovery commands were transmitted since losing signal in June 2018 to the end of January 2019 with over 1000 recovery commands transmitted before February 13, 2019.[16][31][32] NASA officials held a press conference on February 13 to declare an official end to the mission. NASA associate administrator Thomas Zurbuchen said, “It is therefore that I am standing here with a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude that I declare the Opportunity mission is complete.”[33] As NASA ended their attempts to contact the rover, the last data sent was the song “I’ll Be Seeing You” performed by Billie Holiday.”

My Personal Movie Bucket List

I’ve had quite a bit of time to think on this due to social distancing. Yay! So here we go if anyone cares. Maybe you can get a little inspiration for your own movie bucket list.

My Movie Bucket List~

1. The Mr Rogers movie

Mr Rogers is actually something I grew up on (I’m way to young) but but my mother did. And she, in turn, shared it with me. I’ve also listened to his biography audio book which made me love him even more.

2. Knives out.

A murder msyerty! Why not? I hear its wonderfully twisted. Sign me up!

3. Probably a couple of marvel movies.

Not exactly sure which ones. Ideally, I’d love to watch them in order but we’ll see. But whatever it is, I’d be starting from scratch.

4. The live action Disney movies (minus maybe the lion king because I just really have no desire. Literally looks like a National Geographic documentary)

5. The Harry Potter movies in order. (I’ve watched most of them but only as a kid/middle schooler so I’m sure stuff went over my head and I really want to appreciate the story now that I’m older)

6. Up

Because I wanna cry.

7. The fourth toy story.

This one is sort of killing me because I grew up one Toy Story. Hopefully it’ll come available at our library soon.

And Also because I wanna cry.

8. Frozen 2 if I get the chance, simply for curiosity’s sake.

9. And maybe the third how to train your dragon because I loved the first, was okay with the second, so I feel like I need to finish them.

10. And finally, the Disney Star Wars movies, also for curiosity’s sake due to that fact that I grew up watching the earlier ones.

11. Little Women, by the suggestion of a friend.

12. Inception

13. A Quiet Place

And That pretty much covers it. Keep in mind, this list isn’t in priority order. It’s a lot at this point, but hopefully someday I’ll finish it.

Insults to Keep up your Sleeve Part 2

Because swearing is boring.

  1. You Cold Corndog

Listen, corndogs are kind of iffy anyway. Especially the oven made ones. They’re especially bad when they’re soggy and the hot dog and the breading seem to be two totally separate entities with the bread sliding off.

2. You Crusty Toothpaste Tube

You can thank my brother for the inspiration on this one. I mean, does it REALLY take that much of your precious 12 year old boy time to put the dumb tooth paste cap back on the tube???

3. You Goblin

For if you’re feeling real whimisical.

5. You Spork

Because sporks are supposed to do two things but in actuality does neither of them at all. Often like my siblings.

6. Cough Syrup

Lovely, simply because its off the wall but obviously insulting.

7. You greasy door handle

You can just feel this one.

8. Haggis

A Scottish dish consisting of a sheep’s or calf’s offal mixed with suet, oatmeal, and seasoning and boiled in a bag, traditionally one made from the animal’s stomach. And the perfect insult for a not so savory individual.

9. You Limp Lettuce

Because the joys of Alliteration.

Quarantine Bucket List Week 2

Because me and my friends burned through the previous one super fast.

Quarantine bucket list version 2

You can still complete the tasks on the first list. Besides that, same rules as before! Good luck!

A side note: point value is increasing so if you struggled with the last list you still have a chance. Also, you are welcomed to complete any items on the previous list that you haven’t done. These are just in addition to it.

Another side note: things are getting harder.

-find out what Disney princess you are from a quiz and share your results (10 points)

– go somewhere and order a kids meal (and if they offer a toy, take it) (50 points)

-send a member a song that reminds you of them. Tell them it’s their theme song. (20 points)

-Dramatically recite/read something for the group. (40 points)

-find a news article of something interesting that is unrelated to coronavirus and share it with the group (20 points)

-start a blog, and post every day for about 4 or 5 days (im excluding myself from this one as I already own two blogs that I keep up with)(200 points)

-have a photo shoot complete with props and a pretty background and everything and share your photos (preferably through email as photos take up a lot of storage through text) and NONE of you are allowed to say you can’t do this one because you are all beautifully adorable so I don’t even want to hear it (80 points)

-write a story but this time there’s no prompt, just write one. You can do this more than once as long as it exceeds 600 words. (100 points)

-learn to fold a fitted sheet. It has to be neat, tidy, and stackable. (80’points)

-write a letter to your past self (40 points)

-make a short film. Of any kind. Share it with the group. (100 points)

-similar to above, film and choreograph a fight scene. Add epic music. Share it with the group. (150 points)

-design an outfit of sorts. This can be anything from a dress to a super suit to armor. It doesn’t have to be girly. Just experiment with this art medium. (40 points)

-find a fountain and flip a penny into it to make a wish. (40 points)

-have a picnic if the weathers nice. Take pictures and share it with the group (70 points)

-Surprise me. This can be anything. Give me a shock. I just want to be surprised at what you come up with. (100 points)

-find out what flavor of pop tart you are (20 points)

-send people pictures of your cute pets. I expect cuteness to the max.  (15 points)

-draw something cool with chalk and share it (25 points)

-invent something (80 points)

-build a fort. (80 points)

-wake up before the sun comes up and send us a picture of the sunrise (100 points)

-share your crappiest (or best) pickup line. (20 points)

-share an embarrassing/funny story with the group. (40 points)

-make a mystery for someone. Be creative. This can be a series of letters left for someone. A scavenger hunt. A text convo where you leave clues to the person as to your identity.  Get creative. If theres anything I want to stress in this game it’s creativity. (100 points)

-choreograph a dance & send it out to everyone. Others also receive points for learning it. (100 points for all parties who participate in this one).

Unpopular Opinions of Mine

Unpopular Opinions of mine

Country music, by large, I find not very enjoyable.

Chewing with your mouth open is like the vilest thing and it will actually make me dislike you a little bit. I know it’s petty but I’m sorry.

Pop music isn’t that bad sometimes when it’s not annoying.

Fast food doesn’t taste awful as long as I don’t have tons of it because then it’s kind of gross.

Rainy days are the best because you can cuddle up in a blanket and drink warm stuff and be happy.

Musicals can be annoying sometimes.

Corny shows and movies are actually relaxing to watch.

Forgiveness doesn’t automatically = everything was the same as before.

I think cats are better then dogs.

I like introverts and homeschoolers but I’ll be honest, I think by large, public schoolers tend to be more inclusive.

People who practice inaction get on my nerves every now and then.

Optimism and pessimism both have their place but both can be stupid in access.

There are sometimes points in life where giving up is okay.

British accents are cool and all but SCOTTISH.

Pencils are the best art medium.

As much as I have night owl pride, I wish I was a morning person. It seems more productive. (While being a night owl is more enjoyable).

Buzzards are nice birds. They’re environment smart and without them we’d have corpses everywhere. Recycle!

Coffee is good (with lots of creamer)

Cake isn’t really that great.

Dark chocolate is gross.

Sleeping in socks is awful.

People who are slobs get on my nerves.

You can be a good friend and still not support someone in everything they do.

Forgiving someone as quickly as possible isn’t really smart. (Let me explain, I think people just need time to process their emotions and if they just smooth it over, they really haven’t put any thought into their forgiveness which can lead to future hard feelings because you haven’t REALLY forgiven them.)

Oreo cream is nasty.

Popcorn is like the best dessert ever.

And bbq sauce is kind of gross too. Like sloppy joes and meat loaf. Blech.

Here’s the tea ☕

Chamomile-

Amazing for winding down and relaxation. Good to drink before bed. Also helps with anxiety, head aches, and bloating. Recommended for those who are stressed.

Peppermint-

Helps with bloating as well but also combats nausea. Another perk  includes combating bad breath.

Chai-

For those with crappy immune systems (haha me). Fights inflammation. Aids digestion.

Black-

Treats anxiety (yay). Helps with weight loss. Also relieves head aches.

Oolong-

Promotes weight loss & boosts one’s metabolism. It also might decrease your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and protect against certain types of cancer. Good for dental health.

White-

Good for stress and detoxification. Also promotes weight loss.

Hibiscus-

Good for high blood pressure and fights respiratory diseases.

Matcha-

Also good for bad immune systems.  Burns belly fat and is a good detoxifier.

Hard Health Tips We All Need to Hear

Health tips we all need to hear (I’m kind of calling myself out too)

-stop drinking coffee for the aesthetic. Drink water.

-actually make your bed. It makes your entire room look so much more neater. Trust me, I was a skeptic about this too but once you get into the habit, it really improves the feel of your space and gives you a clearer mind.

-snack less.

-Procrastinate Less. As soon as you get an assignment, DO IT.

-it’s okay to buy yourself little treats every now and then. You feel guilty too much. It’s okay to buy that package of new socks for yourself, seriously.

-make yourself a playlist, it really helps.

-wash your face at night, it can help you “wash away the day”.

-if you want a warm, comfort drink, I recommend tea. I plan on making a full post on this.

-don’t play your phone in bed. The blue light hinders your sleep and you want your mind to associate your bed with sleep.

Study Tips

Study tips ✨ 📚

📖 put the phone down and away. Preferably where you cannot see it. Turn it on silent.

📖 grab a snack and drink to keep by so you don’t have an excuse to randomly stop and get up.

📖 get into your “studysona” who loves studying, is smart, and takes cute notes.

📖 if you’re struggling with motivation, try and work on it for at least five minutes. Starting is usually a mental block in of itself.

📖 get yourself excited with nice pencils and highlighters. You’ll find your brain can be easily bribed by such things.

📖TAKE. NOTES. This helps you retain the important information plus you can go back and study on it later if you need to.

📖 pick some music but just pick a soundtrack and go. Don’t get distracted or bogged down.

📖And usually it helps to have songs with no words so you’re not tempted to sing along and get derailed as far as your concentration goes.

📖personally, I recommend video game sound tracks as they are designed to help people focus.

📖use flash cards for memorization oriented studying.
