Romanticizing your own life

So we are coming to a time on the internet where aesthetics are becoming a really big thing. Things like Dark Academia and Cottagecore are becoming more mainstream. These aesthetics often paint this picture of a beautiful romantic life filled with books and good food and cute outfits. It feels a little unattainable sometimes, especially when your life feels anything but cute (and that’s okay, it won’t always). So here are a few personal tips of mine that make your life feel that much more magical.

Spray perfume in books
So this is really cool because the scent stays with the book and you begin to associate that scent with that story and it’s just so surreal and brings even more life and personality to the story you’re reading.

Actually take baths with monstrous amounts of bubbles.
So showers are great when you wanna save time, but I’ve found that if I really wanna feel like a pampered princess, I can tie my hair up in a silk ribbon and draw some hot water and take a nice bubbly bath. I also recommend bathrobes, especially silk ones because they just feel fancy and good on your skin.

Write letters- like for real letters.
Nothing is nicer than filling an envelope with your personality and sending it off for someone you love to enjoy. It feels so sophisticated plus I guarantee the person receiving it will love it.

Maybe try and keep a diary?
No judging if you don’t keep up with it. Or even if entries are months apart. Just give it a shot.

Actually bake stuff.
When you’re feeling up to it, try baking. It fills the house with nice smells and feels magical.

Try a different genre of music than normal.
Sometimes if your life feels particularly monotonous, it can be because you’re not doing anything different every day. Some patterns are good and healthy but you will probably feel very stagnate in general if you stick with the same old things simply because they’re safe and what you’re used to. This can go for music as well as food and style choices. Experimentation is good sometimes.

Be committed to enjoying the little things.
Romanticizing your own life isn’t even necessarily about doing more “romantic” and “adventurous” things though those are nice. It’s more about finding the beauty in what’s already there. So try and see things in a new light. For me, it means I pay attention to all the quiet moments in life and notice everything around me. Because beauty really is there. It’s almost like a sensory reset. Feeling the warmth of sunlight as if you’ve never felt it before. Noticing the subtle instruments in a song. Noticing the colors that are around us all the time and how beautiful it is that you can perceive them. Life really is romantic if we take time to notice it.

Cool Gadgets That Satisfy My Inner James Bond

Lipstick Usb drive

I’m a sucker for cool usb drives. Not exactly sure why. But this definitely gets the style points.

Pen Knife

To stab those annoying people in class? Okay, maybe not but still a cool concept.

Multi tool beret

Has more uses than just keeping my hair out of my face- I’m on board.

Multi tool phone case

I think this would be super useful for me personally! The perfect kit for the every day unexpected events.

Coin with hidden pocket

Probably only useful for memory chips or really small pieces of paper but amazing nonetheless.

Phone ring & ear piece

This is so clever, I love it! I always thought the concept of an apple watch was interesting but wasn’t a huge fan of the fact that sometimes the screens were big and clunky on the wrist. This is small and compact, making it incredible smart as well as cool.

Umbrella Sword

Sign me up! I love this concept even though it’s not like I’m constantly in need of a sword on the go but it’s still neat. Plus that back strap for easy carrying is stylish as well as convenient.

Heel with secret compartment

Feeling like a femme fatale? Gotcha covered. Or perhaps you just don’t want to have to keep up with your keys and money. Also got you covered.

Secret lining coat

Yes, I realize this is nothing super new in the spy genre of fiction however, this concept does not get any less cool as time goes on. Being able to hide stuff in my coat lining still appeals to me immensely. Plus we all know that trench coats are attractive. Don’t deny it.

Secret compartment watch

Keep track of time as well as having a place to stash yourrr… aspirin?

Anyways! That’s it for now! I’m sure there are tons more of these so I might make a second one. Until then, see you guys later!

Making A Difference

Often, when people are asked if they can make difference, their minds turn to big things. I could become famous and advocate for just causes. I could become a scientist and make big, important discoveries that aid the entirety of mankind. I could become a scholar and help spread knowledge throughout the world. And while all of these things are fine, statistically speaking, many of us aren’t going to be famous. Many of us are going to work jobs that many people consider menial. And I am of the firm belief that there is no shame in that. Because I have learned making a difference isn’t just about the big things but the little things.

The little choices that we make day to day are how we make a difference. Little decisions that pile up. Little things that make the world just a little bit better. Things that make the world just a little bit brighter.

Little choices like choosing to be kind. A smile will go a long way. And while a bad attitude is contagious, the same can be said for a good attitude. Small gestures of kindness can completely flip someone’s day around. You never know how you might impact someone, by simply being kind.

Little choices like choosing to be honest. The dishonest may seem like they obtain their goals quicker and easier, but in the end, your integrity matters, even if it’s just to you. Because when you choose to obtain your goals by being honest and working hard, even when others aren’t watching, it allows you to appreciate the value of hard work. Make your promises and handshake mean more then pen and paper. Show people that hard work and honesty is worth it in the long run.

Little choices that allow you to better yourself. Choices like choosing to get up early. Choices like choosing to work out instead of watching TV. And of course, eating healthy. But bettering yourself is not just limited to physical achievements. You can better yourself emotionally by choosing to let things go and choosing to be happy. Choices like these not only make your world brighter, but can encourage others. Because the quicker the world realizes that everyone has the choice to be happy, the better the world will become.

Little choices like choosing to support what you believe in and standing up for it. When you believe in something, stand up for it. But in doing so, don’t keep your ears and heart closed. Listen to the opposing position. Think about what you believe and test it to see if it holds true. And if it does, hold onto it and support it. Not just with your words, but your actions. Too many people believe in their position, but not to extent of actually doing something about it. Their belief will never make it beyond their phone screen and therefore never make a difference. Take what you believe in and act. Make your beliefs not only posses your mind, but your hands.

This all goes to say, that the sooner you realize that a big difference comes from a lot of little choices, the more likely you are to make a difference. Big differences are composed of many little events, many little people, and many little sacrifices. This is why I am of the firm belief that anyone can make a difference.
