Yay or Nay Book Tag!

Got tagged by Riddhi B. over at Whispering Stories! Thank you so much for the tag—it’s been far too long since I’ve done one of these, and honestly? I miss it. I love feeling connected to the broader blogging world, so today we’re diving into a little game of “Yay or Nay” with some popular bookish trends.

This trend was originally created by Becky over on her blog, so definitely check out her post if you want to see where it all started!

With the intro out of the way… let’s jump in.

Bookish Tropes

I’m very on the fence here. Tropes can be fun and comforting…like that warm blanket you’ve wrapped yourself in a thousand times sitting on the corner of your couch (And may look a little ratty) but still love. But sometimes they feel exhausted (Much like aforementioned couch blanket). (And yes, I’m looking straight at you, enemies-to-lovers. I’ve read so many versions that my eyes roll on instinct now.)

The real issue is when publishing leans too heavily on whatever trope BookTok is obsessed with that month. It can feel like creativity gets shoved into a garbage can and quickly forgotten: “Write this trope, this way, with these beats, or it won’t sell.” So tropes are a Half Yay, Half Nay for me.

Alternating POV

Yay! When authors do this well, it’s incredibly engaging. You get different layers of the story, different emotional angles, and sometimes even dramatically different interpretations of the same event.

But when it’s done badly? It’s torture. You’re stuck slogging through a POV you don’t care about, flipping pages praying to get back to the character who actually has something interesting going on. So maybe technically another half yay and half nay, thinking on it now.

Ambiguous Endings

Mostly Yay from me. I love when an ambiguous ending feels intentional. I like when the author is almost asking you at the end to imagine where they go. Use that brain of yours!

What I don’t love is when it feels like the author simply… ran out of ideas. Or panicked. Or thought, “What if I just… stopped here?” Ambiguity should fit the story, not be a last-minute escape hatch.

Non-Fiction

Yay! Shocking to my high-school self, who would’ve voted “Nay” with her whole chest. But I’ve grown to love nonfiction of all sorts… memoirs, nature writing, cultural commentary, even the occasional self-help (ok, a lot of self help). Sometimes real life is intriguing.

Historical Fiction

A personal Nay for me. I’ve tried! I really have! Something about the pacing or the tone or the dusty-old-period-piece vibes doesn’t click for me. Maybe I just haven’t met the right historical fiction book yet, but until then… nay. I am so far from a Jane Austen girl too.

Morally Grey Characters

Another split vote. Truly morally grey characters? A Yay. Give me complex motivations, ethical dilemmas, conflicted loyalties! It can be chef’s kiss.

But a lot of “morally grey” characters in romance are really just… rude. Or emotionally unavailable. Or hot with trauma. That’s not morally grey, that’s a red flag. Go get therapy. So: Half Yay, Half Nay.

First Person POV

Big Yay. My favorite POV, honestly. I just love being inside a character’s brain and hearing their inner monologue, watching them rationalize questionable decisions, and getting that close, personal connection. When it’s done well, it feels like borrowing someone else’s brain for a few hundred pages.

Audiobooks

Nay! I’ve tried but it simply doesn’t work for me. My brain wanders unless I’m physically turning pages. Plus, I feel like I retain the story so much better when reading visually. There’s something about the tactile act of reading that makes the story stick.

Re-Reading

Yay! If it was good the first time, why not revisit it? I love catching details I missed or rediscovering lines that hit harder now that I’m older… or just more tired.

Classic Novels

Mostly Nay. I struggle to read a lot of classics without feeling like I’m decoding something. But I do have my favorites: The Princess Bride (forever iconic), Sherlock Holmes (so witty), Little House on the Prairie, and Animal Farm (simple and brutal).

Annotating

Nay. I wish I could be that aesthetic cottagecore annotator with all the colorful tabs but I can’t bring myself to write in my books. It feels like vandalism. My brain screams “crime!” every time.

Cracking Book Spines

Depends. A beautiful special edition? Absolutely not, I treat it like a museum artifact. A beat-up, well-loved personal copy? Crack away. That’s character development.

Character-Driven Books

BIG FAT YAY. My beloved. Give me deep and flawed characters, emotional journeys, growth arcs…yes, please. Plot is great, but characters are what keep me thinking about a book weeks later.

Past/Present Split Timeline

Mostly Nay. I can admire the skill required to weave two timelines together, but it’s not my favorite reading experience. There’s a lot of hopping around, and sometimes I feel like I’m doing mental gymnastics just to keep track of who knows what and when.

Heavy World Building

Yay! Build your world! Flesh it out! Let me smell the air and know the currency system! I love when an author actually commits to making their universe feel real. It shows care.

Signed,
Me (your local fantasy enthusiast)

In conclusion…

That’s all for this round of Yay or Nay! Thanks so much for reading and thanks again to Riddhi for tagging me. I’ll drop my own tags below as I have already put together my list of victims… I mean, fellow bloggers and friends.

Tagged Tunes: A Music Blog Tag

First off, a big thank you to Diamond for tagging me in this super fun music blog tag! I had the best time reflecting on the songs that have been with me through different seasons of life. Whether it’s a soundtrack/instrumental piece in the background or a lyric that punches you in the gut (in a good way), music is such a personal part of how we process and celebrate life. So here’s a little peek into my playlist!

And now… to the questions:

Your favorite song right now
Right now, I’m obsessed with a piece from The Wild Robot soundtrack called “I Could Use a Boost.” It’s cinematic, slightly whimsical, and hits that perfect sweet spot for a soundtrack lover like me. If you’re into instrumental pieces that tug at the heartstrings and make you feel like you’re on an adventure, give it a listen. You’re life or drive will feel like a coming of age movie.

Favorite Christian song
For a modern Christian track, “I Need You” by Gable Price and Friends has been on repeat in my car. It’s raw and real and feels like a journal entry to God when you’re burnt out. Plus bonus points for the Screwtapes Letters reference. But if we’re going classic, nothing beats “Be Thou My Vision.” That hymn just has a staying power. It feels like stepping into something ancient and deeply rooted every time I hear it.

Your favorite song five years ago
Back in college, I was loving “Ultralife” by Oh Wonder. It’s just so bright and energizing. Also had “You Already Know” by JJ Heller on my heavy rotation. There’s something about her voice and lyrics that always feels like a deep breath and quietly talking to God about what’s honestly on my mind and heart.

Your favorite lullaby/soothing song
Scripture Lullabies’ “Be Still and Know” is the definition of calming. It’s soft, peaceful, and reassuring in a way that always helps me unwind when life feels too loud. The piano intro is my favorite. Kind of reminds of me of the Princess Diaries Soundtrack in a weird way???

A song that made you cry
“Dear Mum” by Cassa Jackson. Oh my goodness. It’s tender and heartbreaking in the most beautiful way. The lyrics carry such a gentle ache. Definitely one for the “feel your feelings” playlist.

A song that makes you dance
“Sunroof” by Nicky Youre is bubbly and fun. It’s perfect for spontaneous dance sessions in your kitchen in the summer when the windows are open. And for a totally different vibe, “Harpy Hare” by Yaelokre makes me want to swirl around like I’m at a medieval faire. I’m not saying I’ve danced around in a circle skirt to it… but I’m also not not saying that.

A song you covered/performed
I’m not much of a performer, so I’m skipping this one. Unless you count car concerts or singing to my cats….

Favorite movie song
Is it dramatic? Yes. But “The Rohirrim Charge” from Lord of the Rings gets me every time. Epic, powerful, and goosebump-inducing. Instant motivation. Just wanna draw my sword every time I hear it.

Favorite song from a new album
Confession: I’m way behind on new music. I mostly live in my soundtracks and favorite artist bubble. So… if you have album recs, I’m all ears.

A song that makes you sentimental
“Birthday Cake” by Dylan Conrique is like a gentle punch to the gut. So melancholy and nostalgic. It makes me reflect on time passing and all the bittersweet little moments that go with it. The epitome of losing someone before you’re ready.

A song you’ve heard a lot lately
I don’t really do radio, so I don’t have a specific answer here. I tend to get obsessed with a few songs and loop them forever until I emotionally retire them.

A song you’d do at karaoke
Any cringe-worthy 2000s pop hit. Something the whole crowd knows and secretly loves. I want maximum nostalgia and minimum vocal expectations.

A good road trip song
“Driving Myself Home” by Rose Betts is just the right mix of fun, bounce, and sing-along potential. Great for windows-down cruising.

A cute love song
“Ordinary” by Alex Wallen gives me all the cozy love story feels. Simple, sweet, and a little dreamy. I’m not trying to be basic, but I am trying to be honest.

Favorite country song
“Dooley” by The Dillards. Please tell me someone else knows this gem. It’s a classic. Bluegrassy, catchy, and full of charm.

A song you love but cannot sing
Literally any song sung by a male artist in that awkward mid-range that’s too low and too high depending on how you try to adjust. My vocal range just gives up and goes home.

And that’s a wrap on this musical journey! I’d love to hear your answers—consider yourself tagged if you’re reading this and feel inspired. But specifically, I’m tagging:

My Dream Life as an Author (Manifesting This Immediately) ✨📖

Some people dream of red carpets and bestseller lists and their characters being played by Blake Lively (okay so maybe only a few people dream of this…). My dream however is that of a quiet cottage tucked deep in pine woods, where the only sounds are the clack of my typewriter, the occasional whinny of my horses (yes, I am a horse girl), and the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. The city? Overrated. New York? Absolutely not. Los Angeles? I shudder at the thought. No, I’m staying right here in the South, where the sweet tea flows (yuck. I actually can’t stand the stuff), the humidity ruins my hair, and the locals know how to tell a good story, true or not.

The Books: Where Agatha Christie Meets Dungeons & Dragons

If I could write anything, it would be the perfect blend of mystery and fantasy. Imagine a classic Agatha Christie whodunit, but with wizards, cursed artifacts, and a detective who might have to cast Detect Magic before finding the culprit. A world where taverns replace tea parlors, the suspects might be elves or shapeshifters, and the murderer was possibly a necromancer all along. Murder mysteries, but make them magical.

The Library: My Own Personal Wonderland

Now, my home wouldn’t just be any cottage. It would be the ultimate book lover’s retreat. It would be a place where the walls are lined with shelves, and books climb all the way up to the ceiling. A rolling ladder would be a necessity, obviously. There would be nooks for reading, armchairs worn in just the right way, and maybe even a secret passageway hidden behind one of the bookshelves… (see my previous post on my dream book nook.)

The Writing Process: Typewriters and Total Control

No laptops for me! Just the click-clack of a typewriter, because I’m dramatic like that. Would it be practical? Probably not. But would it make me feel like an eccentric genius author? Absolutely. My editor would have to deal with getting actual, physical pages, and I’d refuse to change my methods even as the world moved into holographic AI writing or whatever the future holds.

The Movies: Only Under My Watchful Eye 👀

Now, let’s be realistic here; eventually, someone would want to turn my books into movies. I would allow it… BUT ONLY IF I SUPERVISE. No sloppy adaptations, no weird modernized versions that miss the heart of the story. I’d be the author in the back of the studio, wrapped in my elegant trench coat, sipping coffee, and glaring at the scriptwriters over my glasses. My books, my rules.

The Style: Classy, Retro, Timeless

(And the delusion continues!)

Speaking of trench coats, my author persona would be expertly curated so maintain an air of mystery (to match my books). I’d dress like I stepped out of a vintage detective novel. Something Nancy Drew would approve of. Think elegant dresses, stylish coats, maybe a brooch or two. A little bit of film noir meets Southern charm, effortlessly timeless and full of mystique. When people met me, they’d instantly assume I had secrets because, honestly, what’s the fun in being an author if you don’t cultivate a little mystery?

The Travel: A World of Inspiration

Of course, I wouldn’t just stay in my little pinewood haven forever. I’d take grand trips around the world, collecting stories like a dragon hoarding treasure. A week in an old Scottish castle for ghost story inspiration? Done. A summer in Italy writing in a café? Yes, please. My passport would be well-used, but I’d always return home to my cottage, my books, and my horses.

This, my friends, is the dream. The author life I was meant to live. A life of stories, mystery, and just the right amount of eccentricity. One day, it’ll be real (or so I like to tell myself). Until then, I’ll keep writing (and waiting for Hollywood to beg me for adaptation rights). 😉

My Dream Writing/Book Nook ✨📖

Listen, I could technically write anywhere…a coffee shop, my bed, the floor of my apartment while my cat watch me intently (probably waiting for a snack). But in a perfect world? Oh, I’d have the writing nook of my dreams. A little slice of literary heaven. A cozy, magical hideaway where inspiration flows as easily as my third cup of coffee.

First things first: secret entrance. My nook is not just a regular room—it’s hidden behind a bookcase door, because if I’m going to be a writer, I at least want to feel like a mysterious, reclusive novelist with an air of intrigue. (Or like I live in a Nancy Drew novel, either works.)

Inside, there’s a bed nook built into the wall, because everyone knows that half of writing is dramatic thinking sessions where I just stare into space. I’ll curl up with a notebook, wrapped in a big blanket like a Victorian woman lamenting her tragic love story.

And when I’m feeling extra lazy? There’s also a giant bean bag, perfect for flopping into after writing three sentences and deciding I deserve a break. A very well needed break

The desk situation you may be asking (nobody is asking)? Oh, it’s vintage and aesthetic, covered in scattered notes, coffee stains, and probably a half-eaten cookie. Sitting on top is a typewriter because if I’m going to write, I might as well be romantic about it. But don’t worry, I also have my laptop for when my fingers get tired of clacking away. Very loudly I might add.

There’s a big window, because I need to stare outside while contemplating my life choices, and on rainy days, I can pretend I’m in a moody indie film while writing. At night, the whole room glows with twinkling fairy lights, making it feel like a secret storytelling cave.

And the vibes? Immaculate. Soft indie folk, lo-fi beats, maybe the sound of a crackling fireplace. Some days I might put on instrumental music and pretend I’m a tortured 18th-century poet. Other days? Just cozy silence, with the occasional interruption of my cat knocking something over.

This is where I’d write my best stories, fueled by too much caffeine and unrealistic levels of coziness. One day, I’ll make it happen. Until then, I’ll keep daydreaming (and procrastinating). ✨

Now it’s your turn!

Describe your dream writing nook using the template below and share it!

🖋 What is your method of writing? (Typewriter, laptop, quill pen, enchanted scroll?)
🕯 What is your means of lighting? (Candlelight, fairy lights, a single moody lamp?)
📚 What is the centerpiece of your nook? (A big desk, a window seat, a mini library?)
🎶 What music is playing while you write? (Lo-fi, classical, the sound of your own existential crisis?)
📍 Where is your nook located? (A hidden attic, a treehouse, a bookshop corner?)
☕️ What’s on your writing desk? (A coffee cup, an open notebook, a cat that refuses to move?)

Tag me if you share—I need to know what kind of dreamy, bookish spaces we’re all manifesting. 📖✨

k, bye all!

The Procrastination Tag

The Rules:

  • use the graphic in your post (as seen above!)
  • mention the creator of the tag (maya)
  • use the tag #theprocrastinationtag so the creator can see your cool post!
  • mention the person that nominated you: Corrie.S.P.
  • answer the questions below
  • tag as many people as you like ❤

Many thanks to Corrie for tagging me! And in the spirit of this tag, I procrastinated doing this tag! (It was definitely because I wanted to get in the spirit and not the fact that I…legitimately…procrastinated…it.)

Ahem…as I was saying! On with the tag!

Questions:

1. How many times do you think you have procrastinated in your life?

Oh. Starting out with a banger I see.

It’s impossible to tell at this point. I feel that at one time or another, I am always procrastinating something! I do this thing where I complete a task I had been previously procrastinating because I am simply procrastinating yet another task. It’s a continuous cycle.

2. How do you combat procrastination?

In the spirit of a certain shoe brand, I just do it.

Though there is an inner battle that takes place before hand that usually consists of me telling myself “just work on it for 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes.”

This is, of course, a trick and a lie. Usually if I can suffer through 5 minutes of something, I’m finally in the groove and I continue until I get it done or at least a big portion of the task accomplished. It’s a secret though, so don’t go telling my brain about this!

The more I think about it, the more I realize getting myself to do tasks is like motivating a toddler.

If we do the hard thing, what if we get a treat afterwards? You like treats right? Maybe some coffee…?

This is IMPORTANT. It will not go away. You don’t want to do this tomorrow, do you?

No, you cannot nap.

Just do it for five minutes and then we can go play with toys.

3. What advice would you give to someone procrastinating?

I think I’ve made a few posts on this very thing (as it’s something I clearly struggle with) but most of my advice generally boils down to just sitting down and working on the thing, if only for a short amount of time. Set small goals. Small goals seem more manageable.

It can also help to pinpoint specifically why your procrastinating. Not all procrastination is the same. Figure out which of the follow reasons is why you’re not working on the thing. This can further help you come up with a more fitting solution.

You’re burnt out: Go do something different for a little awhile. Take a walk and then return to the task.

You’re scared of failure: Remember that doing nothing and not trying is often worse than failure. It is basically a failure in of itself. Also remember that you don’t have to do everything perfectly. Take a breath, take a shower, or meditate for a moment. Then go try. It’s okay if you fail. Give yourself permission to suck.

You simply are in one of those lazy moods: If you have the time, take a quick 30 minutes to rest or let your brain switch off. Tell yourself after the allotted 30 minutes, you are going to work on the project for 10 minutes. Do the thing. See how easily your brain switches gears. If you still feel lazy, take another 30 minute break and then work for 10 minutes again afterwards.

You feel like garbage all around and just don’t want to work anymore: Ask yourself if you are feeling one of the these three things: Dehydrated, Hungry, or tired. You may feel all three of these things sometimes! Set about fixing these things before getting to work. You brain is not going to function well on 0 water, 0 sleep, or 0 food.

You are overwhelmed: Again, break things into smaller tasks. Make a to-do list and feel accomplished when you check things off. Prioritize. And then tackle the little tasks. Kick proverbial butt.

Phew, that was a lot! I didn’t mean to ramble like that! Thanks for sticking around till the end of the post! Hopefully you found something useful in there.

Anyways, time for nominations!

A Snurched Tag, Get to Know Me Writer’s Edition

Welcome one and all to the Get to Know Me Tag, writer’s edition. I came across this tag through a series of snurchments (that’s not a word but it is now) and thought I’d continue this digital paper trail by completing the tag myself.

★The Rules★

  • link back to the person who created the tag, Savannah
  • thank the person who tagged you  ( no one tagged me but I originally saw this on The Texas Lass’s Blog.
  • share the tag graphic
  • tag eleven bloggers

 VITAL STATS and APPEARANCE ★

Let’s jump right into the tag now, shall we?

Name(s):  Brooke

Nicknames:  Brookie Cookie, Smol one, yaknow, whatever people yell at me from across the house.

Birthday:  January 7th, a time in which everyone is burnt out from Christmas and new years. Additionally, my other siblings have birthdays in December bringing the grand total of holidays that we celebrate in December to a whopping 4. So by the time we get to January 7th, everyone is ready for a nap, myself included.

Hair color & length:  Brown and curly. The length ranges from medium to short. I’ve randomly been whacking it off because how else am I supposed to deal with stress? Bangs may be coming soon.

Braces/piercings/tattoos:  I was in dire need of braces so I got them in middle school. Thankfully they were removed after two years. I have my ears pierced and am considering getting double piercings?? No tattoos though and I don’t plan on getting any. Needles are far to terrifying for me.

Righty or lefty:  Righty most of the time. There are a few tasks I can do lefty like archery. Just some odd things like that.

Ethnicity:  Whhhhhhhhhite. Very, very white. Pale. Sour-cream-y. However one likes to say it.

FIRSTS★

First novel written:  A book I started writing at age 9 called “The Sword of Fire” which are a wondering story about a person looking for a sword that…wait for it…was on fire. And had magical fire powers of sorts.

First novel completed: A really, really bad book I wrote in middle school called “The Jewels of Mythica: The Diamond”. Ugh….it was a… piece of work. I enjoyed writing it and that’s what matters but it was hardly a great work of literature. I was 11 at the time.

Award for writing: I haven’t published anything so the closest thing I have to a writing award would be any award I got on this blog.

First publication:  None yet. Coming someday.

Conference:  Pffftt… I don’t leave my house. (I’m mostly kidding. I leave for college and for groceries and for funding my coffee addiction).

Query/pitch:  I’ll write this after I finish writing my book. I swear.

FAVORITES ★

Novel (that you wrote): A messy little book called “Malice in Wonderland”. It’s unfinished and was originally supposed to be a self insert of me and my friends falling into the twisted world of wonderland where The King of Hearts is a murderous maniac who does away with his “Queens” to keep himself young (hence the name King of Hearts), The Jabberwocky is a haunting, shape-shifting beast that stalks people to steal their human forms, and the Cheshire Cat is…well, the Cheshire Cat. Me and my friends each assume a role in the story and must find our way back home alive. I was cast as the Queen of Hearts and was tasked with eluding the King. One of my friends was Knave of Hearts. Another was Alice. Yet another was The Mad Hatter, and you get the idea. It was a fun story which I hope to work into an actual novel someday because the premise is so entirely interesting to me. It dabbles in my favorite genres: fantasy, psychological thriller, horror, and adventure.

Genre:  Mystery. I blame my ungodly consumption of noir movies.

Author:  C.S. Lewis of course.

Writing music: The soundtrack from the Movie “Loving Vincent”. If you have not heard it, please do your ears a favor, and look it up. It is marvelous for writing mysteries and anything with tension/emotional weight.

Time to write:  The Afternoon/Evening. I wish I was an early bird but alas, twas not mean to be.

Writing snack/drink:  Coffee is probably my favorite drink. Or Dr. Pepper. My favorite snack tends to be something salty like popcorn or chips.

Movie:  The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardobe. BUT THE DISNEY ONE, LET ME CLARIFY.

Writing memory:  I remember being pretty lonely in middle school but I have very fond memories of writing on a sort of kids message board primarily for stories. I love the community I felt there with other young kids who read each other’s work.

Childhood book: haha the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe ahaha. You already knew it was coming!

CURRENTLY ★

Reading: Unglued by Lysa Terkuerst.

Writing:  A lot of things unfortunately. A poetry book that I hope to publish via Amazon Kindle before I graduate college, the edited draft of my mystery novel, and a silly story for my friends where we are all astronauts. Oh, and a college research proposal.

Listening to:  The sounds of the campus library around me.

Watching:  My computer screen….

I’m joking. I’m not watching anything until the Obiwan Show comes out on Disney+ in May.

Learning:  Biology all the time. It is my major after all.

FUTURE ★

Want to be published:  Oh heavens, yes. I would love to be published more than once actually though I’m sort of aiming for the stars with that wish but I don’t care.

Indie or traditional:  I want to try traditional but I could see myself end up self publishing down the road. It depends on the opportunities that present themselves I guess.

Wildest goal: To be able to make a living as an Author. Like to have that as my primary job. It may not sound wild, but for me it feels crazy. (Rent where I live is SKYROCKETING).

And I think that is it. I don’t have anyone specific I wish to tag so If you’re reading this and want to do it, you can consider yourself as such!

Inky’s Custom Contest Entry

Hello, ladies and gents! and welcome to another contest entry!

I’ve been enjoying getting more involved in the writing wordpress community and it’s been quite fun I must say! Especially considering all the fun little tags and contests floating around. So its no surprise that I’m participating in another community contest hosted by Inky. So, I present you my entry for Inky’s Custom Contest!

  • use “inky’s custom contest” tag in the post.

My Entries

Originally, I wanted to enter in the Writing, Painting, Baking, & Digital Designing categories but, alas, as I am running low on time to work on creative projects these days (Yay College! :D), I’ll only be entering in the Baking, Painting & Digital Content categories.

Digital Design Entry

Fun fact about me (if anyone cares but I’m gonna tell it anyways), I started doing digital editing & Art when I was 11. And oh boy, was it bad. Like really bad. But now, 9 WHOLE YEARS LATER, I can look at my creations without cringing (sometimes). My favorite digital pieces have always been ones in that disney-esque CGI style (because the animation of Tangled enraptured me). If you’re interested in seeing more of my pieces, I generally upload them to my pinterest & I have a instagram for it. (I would love to see my fellow bloggers on other platforms! Also pinterest is like 90% of how I waste my time…)

Baking

These are Pecan Pie Tartlets (I freaking LOVE tartlets. They make me want to throw a teaparty or something, I swear). Generally they’re best right out of the oven and look so cute on a little plate. ❤

Painting

Blasted people are so hard to paint but they also feel so rewarding when you’re done if they turn out right. You really feel like you’ve accomplished something, yaknow?

Nominations:

And that concludes my entries! Nominations for entering are open right now so feel free to enter and tag Inky so she can see your lovely works of art! See ya, readers!

GIF-Y Love Tag

Joy of joys! I have been tagged by the lovely Stara to do the GIF-Y Love Tag! And this is where I ask everyone to discuss the correct pronunciation of the word down below because me and my family are divided. “JIF” sounds so much better in my head but one could argue that “GIF” should be pronounced similar to “Graphic” as it is a moving Graphic? It makes sense, it just sounds weird in my head.

ANYWAYS. Onto the tag!

ABC’s about me tag

Just another tag I saw floating around on weheartit. You can find the original post that I saw here. Feel free to do it too if you’d like!

a – animal i love

A humming bird. A Ruby throated humming bird to be precise. I saw one once in my homeschooling science textbook when I was about 9 and decided they were the most gorgeous creatures ever.

b – best feature/trait

Hardworking. I tend to overwork myself a little in fact. I’m sorry, there’s just so much I want to do! The struggle is real. I want to try everything and do all the things.

c – color i like

Any shade of blue really.

d – dream of mine

To get a book published. This is no secret. It’s been my goal since age 11. And someday I hope it will come to fruition. Fingers crossed!

e – element i connect with

This is hard. I like water but my personality seems more akin to air. Hmm.. air and water…so maybe like…steam? Rain? I don’t know man.

f – favorite tv show

Probably Merlin. It made me cry but I love it so, so, so much. I also adore Avatar The Last Airbender- the show of my childhood. I was into watching RWBY for awhile too until the very unfortunate and sudden passing of one of the main creators, Monty Oum, and the show took a strange turn as they switched writers.

g – great achievement

I survived high school? I have a blog? I finished the rough draft of my novel? I don’t know, while I love these achievements, I don’t really think about them a lot because I always want to do better or move on to the next thing.

h – height

5’1 and 1/2. Don’t forget the 1/2. (though that might be my shoes??)

i – in love with

Sleeping. And rain. Sleeping while it rains.

j – job of my dreams

Author! Shocking to no one.

k – kids i want

Like 2 or 3 maybe? Depends on what my life ends up looking like.

l – languages i speak

Sorry, dumb American here- I speak English. Das it. I took Latin in high school then quickly forgot everything I learned in the class when I graduated.

m – magical powers i want

I want to control elements of nature! Either that or control time. That would be pretty stinkin awesome. Or shape shifting… ummm… its hard to decide, what can I say?? Final answer is shape shifting I think.

n – number of siblings

Three. Two younger, one older. I am one of the dreaded middle children.

o – one favorite song

Just one, huh? Okay… the Narnia soundtrack? Just all of it.

Crud, I already failed, that’s like 20 songs.

p – personality

I honestly don’t know. Quiet if I don’t know you that well, loud if I do? Introverted? Sometimes moody?

q – quote i live by

Probably one from Tolkien but I personally have a lot of quotes that I adore and want to integrate into my existence. But for now, we’ll settle on this one by Van Gogh.

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.”

*Slinks into a corner to weep*

r – reasons to smile

I’m alive, aren’t I? Sometimes that fact is great weight to me, but often it is a gift.

s – style

Warm. I get so cold. Bring the sweaters and the fuzzy socks. I want them all.

t – time i wake up

Varies like crazy. I have the morning shift at work when I do work in the summer so I would get up at like 4:30 AM, but during school its about 7AM. During breaks, I am a lazy slob so the time can range from 7:30-9:30AM depending on what I have to do that day or how late I stayed up the night before.

u – underrated feature/skill of yours

I can cut strawberries very nicely (I used to work at a tea shop where cutting fruit to look cute was VITAL).

v – vacation place

New Zealand.

w – worst habit

Was Nail-biting but I’ve actually stopped within the last year. I’m pretty addicted to thrift shopping but honestly my worst habit is probably isolating myself when I’m depressed or upset which makes stuff even worse. Angsty girl problems. I also have an unhealthy addiction to iced coffee. White girl problems.

x – x-rays i had

Only one, on my collar bone when I broke it. I was so small I had to stand on a chair while they took it. The chair nearly slid out from under me and I very nearly broke the other one.

y – your comfort movie

How to train your dragon, Toy Story, Rise of the Guardians, Inside-Out, Aladdin, any animated movie I watched young especially. The Lord of the Rings movies could be included in this list as well. And the disney Narnia movies.

z – zodiac sign

Capricorn. The Mermaid goat, ya know?

And that’s a wrap! Farewell for now, bloggers! Thanks for sticking around to know a little bit more about me! Feel free to do this tag if you so desire!
