Role Reversal Fairytale Prompts

★Foreversea 

Wendy makes it to Neverland but finds herself disgusted with the childish cruelty of Peter Pan. Filled with rage at his mistreatings of the Lost Boys, she finds herself siding with the pirates. The last straw comes when Peter’s immaturity and callousness leads to her brother’s death. Alone and seeking revenge, Wendy picks up a blade, taking on a title that Peter would learn to Fear. 

★Snow White the Dwarf 

A tale about a dwarf with dark hair, ruby red lips, and pale skin who is being hunted by a group of seven gifted and dangerous hunters. 

★Rapunzel the Witch 

Rapunzel is a herb collecting, magic worker who is sought out for her fabled “magic” hair and abilities. So she hid herself away in a tower. But an Evil Prince has plans to find her. 

★Belle the Beast 

A girl who is shunned by a town finds a home in a mysterious castle. An enchantress finds her here and casts a spell on her that transforms her into a powerful beast so that she would never feel helpless again and has the means to make people leave her alone.  

★The Little Sea Witch 

Tell me the story of a young sea witch who fears humans and their polluting ways. Also tell me of the prince who vowed to hunter her down. 

★The Bear with Gilded Fur 

A heartwarming story about a bear cub with gilded fur who wonders her way into a cottage in the woods. There, a family of three finds her and wishes to take care of her.  

★Rumpelstiltskin 

Tell me the story of a female fae creature and her adventures trying to con irresponsible nobles and royalty who wish to make flippant promise that they cannot fulfill. 

★Red Fur 

A Wolf with bright Red Fur must outwit a hunter so she can reunite with her pack on the other side of the woods. 

★Hansel and Gretel 

A pair of magic working siblings run an orphanage in the woods where they take in children abandoned by their parents. 

★The Piper Children 

A group of orphans band together and learn bardic magic to get revenge on a town that shunned them and turned them away. 

★The Sleeping Witch 

In this version, Maleficent was actually invited to the gift giving of Sleeping Beauty. She was gifted with magic more powerful than any that has been seen before but signs of such power would not show until her 16th birthday. Fearing the child to be dangerous, the fairies put her in a deep sleep. Until an unsuspecting prince decides to force himself upon her, awakening a deep rage in her and the magic. 

★Alice, Queen of Wonderland 

Alice stumbles upon wonderland and, instead of being confused and misled by its inhabitants, she decides to take matters into her own hands. She brings an end to the Queen of Hearts and very swiftly. Soon, the courtyard echoes with the announcement. 

“All bow to Alice, the Queen of Hearts!” 

Cat Writing Prompts

★Green Eyed Witness

A cat witnesses a murder. The murder of her beloved owner no less. And she wants revenge. But how can she convey this to the detectives? This cat is going to have to think outside the box to try and leave clues as to who the guilty party is.

★Ghostly Visitors

Ever wonder why your cat stares into space on a regular basis? Turns out, your cat is seeing something that you don’t. And, until now, you didn’t know what it was…

★Cat in Charge

You are a cat who belongs to a rather odd looking human. She cooks things that smell weird and wears a strange, tall hat but it never bothered you much and you love her anyway. One day, she leaves on a day trip, leaving you alone at her house thinking you’d not get into much trouble but of course she was sorely mistaken. While moseying along the counter tops and shelves of her house, you accidentally knock over a weirdly colored potion and its effects are…odd to say the least.

★Unlucky

At a shelter you have choice between a black and white cat. Unable to decide you choose both. Little do you know, these cats are rivals and have been battling for every single one of their eight of nine lives. One is a fae trickster cat, trying to bring misfortune onto its owner. The other is a guardian cat, attempting to thwart the trickster cat. The plot twist? The Black cat is the guardian and the White the trickster. Looks can be rather deceiving.

★Copycats

In a lab, scientists have cloned a selected cat multiple times over in the name of scientific discovery. Unfortunately, this experience has been less than ideal for the cats involved, being mistreated and abused in hopes that the scientific team may come up with some sort of “break through”. So the copy cats plan among themselves a grand escape that will get them all out. No “copy” will be left behind.

★Gifted & Graced

A mad scientist who has been working on some rather…strange projects in his lab makes an awful mistake when he accidentally locks his pet cats in the lab itself overnight. The cats don’t mind until something to do with his experiment goes terribly wrong. It’s a superhero origin story except for one minor change: the receiver of the powers is not bestowed upon some loveable main character, nerd boy but a group of five very different cats. Who could have seen it coming?

Dragon Writing Prompts

☀ Dragon Bones

You’re a struggling anthropologist who wishes to get your name out there in the scientific community. But you often find yourself assigned to odd and miserable expeditions. Finally, you manage to get signed onto an expedition taking place in Ireland. You’ve always wanted to visit so you’re excited to see the country and its rolling, snow capped hills.

The expedition takes a turn when you’re digging into a mound and unearth a rather odd looking skull. You work more and more and assemble this near perfect skeleton. Your stomach drops as you place the last bone in place. You’ve read enough fairytales to recognize the skull, the horns, the teeth, and the wings. You have unearthed a fully in tact dragon skeleton. They’ll never believe it.

☀Snap Dragon

You’re an avid plant mom who sets out to decorate your new apartment in a wide variety of plants. You visit every store in town, including a rather shady looking one on the outskirts. There you buy a single snap dragon plant that appears to have just barely sprouted. The cashier says something weird about how “The plant will give back if you tend it well” but you didn’t pay much attention…

At least until the plant grows fully and the petals of the large, red bloom peel back to reveal a tiny, sleeping dragon.

☀Treasure Hunter

The time is the age of great discovery, and while many people are flocking to the new world or to start a business in stock goods, you can’t help but scoff at them. You know you really have the best job in the world. You are labeled a treasure hunter but only your clients know your real specialty; finding dragon eggs.

☀The Last Dragon

Dragons are going extinct. This of course doesn’t surprise you. One sip of dragon’s blood can cure a man or woman of any illness. Their scales make impenetrable armor. And their teeth when fashioned and placed upon the tip of a staff can conduct powerful magic.

You are dying.

You have a rare genetic disease that there is no known antidote for. But one sip of dragon’s blood could heal you of your illness. But everyone says the dragons are already gone… until one day a rumor circulates that there was one last dragon seen in the high mountains.

You set out with a Witch who desires a tooth, A Knight who wishes for the scales, and some weird beast studying librarian who is just along for the ride and the knowledge he might obtain.

And the race is on to find the last dragon.

☀Hidden

You have finally been hired as a government scientist after 20+ years of experience working in your field. You are ready to serve your country with your knowledge and skills- at least until they assign you to one of their latest and most secretive projects.

You are called to a secret test site where you are going to be briefed on your duties. You weren’t expecting what you saw next…

A dragon, chained in a warehouse with guards flanking the entrance. You’re an avid scientist and respect the pursuit of knowledge but this entire scenario just doesn’t sit right with you.

☀Dragon Princess

You know how this story goes. You’re a princess who it sent to find a dragon so you can be saved by a knight who comes along and find a husband. You want to argue with your father, The King, but of course it doesn’t work. Angry but resolved, you head towards the dragons cave.

But you find no dragon.

Instead you find a rag tag group of Princesses who take you in as their own. Turns out they have a kite-like contraption that looks like a dragon to keep the myth alive but the old dragon really died a long time ago. This group of princesses banded together to be each other’s new family seeing as how their own let them down by sending them on this ridiculous mission for marriage in the first place. And so, enticed by freedom and loyalty, you join the ranks of the Dragon Princesses.

Writing Prompts for ISFP’s

Hello everyone! I’m resuming my MBTI writing prompt posts yet again! And today I’m doing the ISFP MBTI personality. They’re also known as “The Adventurer” so I’m hoping to inject that curios and adventurous spirit into these prompts! Please enjoy!

★Space Train

All aboard the space train! The next stop could be anywhere in the universe. Humanity, at this point in time, has advanced to living on multiple planets. Travel between their homes has been restricted by regular space craft until a rather looney inventor creates a most ingenious piece of machinery- The Space Train. The Train can travel speedily across the stars, able to reach the furthest edges of the universe in minutes. The only issue is, the train seems to have a mind of its own, seemingly sentient. Or perhaps this was no accident….

★Charmed

You find yourself wondering your small town when you noticed a shop that you didn’t recognize. Curios, you enter to find it is a jewelry shop. But not your average one of course. This shop is called “Charm”, and is run by a rather curios lady with a tall pointy hat (or perhaps it really is a witch’s hat?). The Charms displayed everywhere look normal at first, but upon closer inspection you find them moving and alive.

★Pennies

There is a fountain in the middle of town with a statue of lady holding a pot and pouring water. You think it is a rather striking piece of work but pay it little to no heed. But little do you know, this fountain is very special. The statue (also known as the lady of the fountain) records the wishes of those who toss a penny in her waters and chooses a few to grant. This, of course, is unbeknownst to you- at least until she grants your wish.

★Chosen One

Your family drags you on a camping trip. This doesn’t surprise you as your Dad has been doing this for years, driving the family to his favorite camping spot between a mountain and a large lake, trying to encourage you to “connect more with nature”. You begrudgingly go, as per usual.

One day, you decide to go swimming in the lake beside your campsite to pass the time. You swim around a bit only to stub your toe on something hard. Annoyed, you fish it out of the water from the depths of the lake, only to find a rather large and magical looking sword. A lady with a cloak made of water suddenly appears before you, informing you that you hold the legendary blade known as Excalibur and you have been, in fact, chosen.

★Portraits

You are a worker at a rather high end art museum. You like your job well enough though sometimes you’re not a fan of the late hours. So its no surprise that you found yourself a little annoyed when you were informed that you were going to need to stay extra late one evening to hang up a new shipment of paintings.

So at about midnight, you find yourself opening up crates of artwork in the basement of the museum. Then you come to one box that is comprise entirely of portraits. You admire them-they are of marvelous workmanship. But, as you hold the canvas in your hands, you see the man in the paint blink and then turn his head towards you. Screaming, you drop him him back in the box only to hear a few annoyed complaints from the other portraits.

★New Year, Old Me

New year’s is not going how you expected. Not in the least. During the New Year’s Eve celebrations, you noticed a strange cloud on the horizon of the sky that no one else seems to pay attention to. Quickly, it culminates into an enormous storm before blowing everyone and everything about. Somehow, perhaps by falling and hitting your head, you’re knocked out. Only to wake up and find yourself on January 1st of the previous year.

★Vulnerable

You’re a reckless teen who has little to no regard for your own safety. Fed up with your act, your guardian angel quits. But little did you know what he was really protecting you from….

★A Mysterious Read

You go to check out book at your local library to find there is a book reserved at the desk for you. The cover is blank so you don’t know the title. Confused and unable to remember whether or not it was you who reserved the book, you take it home and begin to read. To your surprise, the book describes the beginning of your day, right up until you checked the book out. But there is more to read….

★Fish Bait

You are a farm boy who lives near a lake and herds goats and sheep for a living. One day, you decide to fish for your supper. But, to your surprise, you find something much bigger than a fish at the end of your line. You have caught the famed Capricorn.

★Cursed Castle

You are the daughter of a wealthy family who happens to own a castle. You don’t exactly live like a princess like expected. In fact, the castle is simply a tourist attraction and is the means by which your family makes their living. One day, while helping your mom clean the basement of the castle, you see a full suit of armor walk from one end of the hall to another before disappearing around the corner. Confused and amazed, you inform your mother who of course doesn’t believe you, chalking it up to the wild imagination of a child. But you know what you saw. And other weird things begin to happen….

★ Garnet Heart

The year is 2052, and you are a robotic scientist who has achieved much in your life. Your specialty is developing incredibly intelligent AI, and, for an upcoming Science Event, you decide to design a new, and innovative Robot: The GEM. The GEM design is a humanoid robot design with a chamber in the robot’s chest where you can place an item. You chose a Garnet, and your first GEM robot comes to life. You later find out that the personality of the robot depends on the gem you place in their chest.

Writing Prompts for INFP’s

And so the series of writing prompts continues! In this post I plan to tackle creating a few writing prompts based around the MBTI personality type of INFP. The personality type is known at the “mediator” and is known for being in touch with their feelings and being empathetic towards others as well as one of the more introverted personality types. This personality type has a very gentle, dreamy feel and as such I associate them with fairytales, van gogh paintings, violins/soft classical music, and dreamy nebulas in the night sky.

Armored Heart

A princess with a strong thirst for adventure and to prove herself worthy to ascend to the throne (unlike her irresponsible twin brother) stumbles across a strange suit of armor in an abandoned room in the basement of the castle. She puts it on only to find that this armor is enchanted to where she can change her appearance in the armor as well as accomplish incredible physical feats. What happens next is up to you…

Letters to the Ocean

A mountain deity is in love with the ocean deity. You are the appointed mail carrier as well the transcriber for both parties in this love story as both are bound to their physical forms of nature. Tell me of this love story?

Quilted Fate

You are an odd, single woman living along in an old, sleepy town during the late 1800’s as the new nation of America gives rise. You see many ranchers and settlers come and go but you remain in your small town house, working as a seamstress for a living… among other things. It is not entirely public knowledge but you are a seer who weaves the future into your quilts. And this becomes apparent to a visitor who waltzes into your shop one day….

You are secretly an immortal fairy who runs a café for overly tired college students. Things are going fine until you accidentally run into another of your kind while on the job.

The Chosen Two

There exists a fantasy world where “The Chosen One” is reincarnated time after time to vanquish the persistent evil that plagues the land. A sign of sorts appears to the pregnant woman to let her known she is carrying the future hero of the world and one such sign appears to a woman living in a remote village. The townspeople are excited to know that the next hero is going to be born in their village. But much confusion and concern arises when the woman gives birth to twins and they have no idea which is “The Chosen One”.

The Key to Everywhere

While rummaging through your attic, you find a box that you don’t recognize. Inside, you find only one old fashioned key. Being a fan of collecting old shiny things, you slip the key into your pocket. Fast forward a little, and you lock yourself out of your apartment. Flustered and annoyed you grab the key from your pocket as oppose to your regular house key and unlock your apartment door. When you realize what has happened, you are quite confused how a key found in your attic that is clearly old and designed for old doors could unlock your modern apartment.

Writing Prompts for ENTP’s

This personality type was a lot of fun to study and think up prompts for as the typically ENTP is nearly the exact opposite of my natural personality (INFJ). But due to this, this has made reading up on the MBTI personality all the more fun and challenging as I try to shift my perspective of the world and relate to the personality type as I type up a few prompts. I associate this personality type with chessboards, magnifying glasses, and a sort of antique/steampunk-y aesthetic. Such associations will be reflected in the prompts below!

★Debatable

You’re a lonely college student who accidentally got locked into one of the old campus buildings. As you search for the exit, you find a secret room with two speaker stands. At one, you see another student. They explain to you that this was the old debate room which has been hidden away for unknown reasons. They come here to clear their head and “debate” things with themselves and they are delighted that you have found the secret room, as now they finally have someone to actually debate with.

★The Extra Hour

You’re a normal person with a normal life. You never saw yourself as unique really. Just a regular person among many. With the exception of one “gift”. Every night, after 12:00AM, the clock switches to 13:00AM for you and time freezes as you are gifted by the universe, an extra hour to do whatever you wish.

★Library Whispers

You open a library book to find a note with some sort of code. Bored and curios, you crack it. To find it leads you to the title of yet another book. Over time, you find yourself caught up in a library-wide puzzle that involves secret codes. passageways, and many other twisted secrets.

★Life Imitates Art

You get a new job at a museum filled to the brim with Greek style, stone and marble statues. But you notice something odd after only a few days of working there. But they can’t exactly walk around. But, after asking one a question, you find that they can indeed talk. What do you ask them?

★Light Keeper

You live out your days as the keeper of a light house, shining your beacon into the stormy seas to guide ships to the shore. But it seems your light has attracted something else besides a ship- a dragon.

★Corpus Delicti

You are a Homicide Detective. And you are very good at your job I might add. This might be in part due to the fact you are, unbeknownst to your team, are necromancer. And so continues my series of writing prompts based on the meyers briggs personality types. The ENFP personality type is also known as “The Campaigner” and is seen as a creative people person. They are also known as the “hero”. Due to this, I associate the personality with very bright, vivid colors and whimsical ideas or concepts. I associate them with Shakespeare, sunlight, and fantasy.

★Ferris Wheel of Time

You love fairs. You haven’t missed one for years. But maybe you should have missed this one? For after a few quick spins, you find yourself taken forward in time, far into the future. Tell me about your adventures with the ferris wheel of time.

★Fantacity

You live in a city where things don’t run on electricity or coal. No, your city runs on pure imagination. Tell me about this place.

★The Magic Stage

There is a magic stage you and your friends found in the woods. For kicks, you begin to act out a traditional Shakespearean play only to find yourselves teleported to the very setting of the play and each of your friends, a character.

★Prism

You know prisms? Bits of glass the separate light into the known colors of our color spectrum. From red to purple we see each sliver of color, different from the ones it lies next to. Quite extraordinary, no?

There is a deep hum that you hear. It seems to come from the universe itself. But, unfortunately, you’re the only one who can hear it yet you are completely determined to find out what it is.

You are an imaginary friend of a child who, surprisingly, doesn’t forget you as they grow older. You continue to stick by their side and talk to them, even as they reach college age. The imaginary friends are quite jealous of this however, and it causes quite a few problems.
